Stylus Cleaner
I always used to clean my stylus by brushing it gently from back to front with a small brush wetted with Isopropyl Alcohol. it got the fluff and loose crud off but if looked at under a microscope it was still quite dirty. Fortunately new material technology has come up with a much better solution. The Dry Clean comprises a small block of high density foam with a unique structure. The foam consists of multiple interlocked fibres that have microscopic hooks embedded into the fibres. So to clean your stylus you gently lower the tip onto the foam then lift it. The stylus beds into the foam and when you lift it the hooks catch onto the dirt and drag the dirt off. Result you have an immaculate clean stylus with no worries about damaging it by incorrect brushing or excess alcohol causing the diamond to unglue from the cantilever. I am fortunate enough to have a friend with access to an electron microscope, the images below show just how effective the Dry Clean is. Click on the images to see a larger version. Before After |
